Just received results of my CT Angiogram ahead of my aortic heart valve replacement. The cardiologist said he is happy with everything i.e. there's nothing extra needs to be done only the aortic valve replacement itself. Just curious if anyone can answer this but when he said nothing extra needs to be done what does he mean?

You won't need a by-pass. Arteries around your heart are good. Your aorta is good, no anyerisms(sp?). Appears that the only process you will have to go through is getting the valve replaced. And remember you can do this . I'd go to the hospital with you, but seems like you are a little far from me:rolleyes:

Thanks Chris :) So that's good news.

That's great news! Now you're good to go and no surprises! Easy is good! This sounds like a piece of cake for the surgeon, yes?? The surgery time will be shorter.

I remember being quite curious about my angiogram (which, in essence, I guess, the CT is, in your case) because my father had had a triple by-pass. To hear that my arteries were clear was such great news.

Living well, you are!

Best wishes.

Marguerite

Gerard, that is great! Both the news about the arteries itself and the fact that you could go through the CT angio. I would love to know if my arteries are clear, but when I mentioned it they said, they only do it as a pre-op.

Thanks guys.

Nupur they only do it as pre-op? I wonder why that is.

Anyway I was also told my Aortic root was slightly dilated but hopefully the valve replacement will help that. Can dilation be undone?

The surgeons like to be prepared for any extra work needed, such as by passes.
My aortic root was also dialated, and once the pressure was off of it from the bad valve, it relaxed.
We do keep an eye on it with periodic echoes.

Great news, Gerard! Now you can sail through your AVR easily and it'll all be behind you. Yay!

Cheers,
Michelle
