Hello everyone,
Dan and I boarded the Carribbean Princess in New York harbor yesterday and today we're sailing to Nova Scotia. "Wish you were (all) here!"

Best wishes,

Jim

My neighbors went on that cruise last week, just when the hurricane was set to hit near Nova Scotia. Haven't talked to them yet about how it went.

Fall colors should be lovely to see.

Bob's mom has done a great deal of traveling, and she still says that the cruise she took, similar to yours, was one of the very best.
Enjoy yourselves!

Have a great voyage! ... Where did you sail from? ... We love that area and would be interested in a trip like that.

We actually sailed from Brooklyn, and yes, we did bring plenty of warm clothing! The hot tub ha d afew takers today, but not too many in the pools :D

I'll try to post more pics later. We're going to Peggy's COve in Halifax tomorrow.

Best to everyone on VR,

Jim

Hi VR Friends,

After leaving Brooklyn Sunday on the Caribbean Princess, we spent a day at sea on Monday enroute to Halifax, Nova Scotia. There are an amazing 3,400 passengers on board this beautiful cruise ship for this voyage, yet it doesn?t feel crowded at all. There are so many different venues for dining and entertainment, and lots of deck space for walking to other forms of exercise, including a nice gym. The food is wonderful. I don?t know how I?m going to show my face in Cooker?s Throwdown, though. I am continuing my walking and trying not to over do the fine dining. The staff on this ship is very friendly and accommodating. I sound like an ad for Princess, but they really do a nice job for their customers.

The entertainment is really quite good. There are lots of fine musicians, singers and dancers on board, and plenty of different shows to attend. Yesterday in Halifax, we were treated to a performance by the Canadian Royal Mounted Police Pipe and Drum Band. They were great.

In Halifax we took a tour around town by bus to see the colorful Victorian houses, and the large harbor, which we observed from the vantage point of the Citadel, the fortress that was built to defend Halifax and which sits on a high point overlooking the town.

Then we proceeded by bus to beautiful Peggy?s Cove, a quaint little seaside town that is a photographer?s dream. We spent a relaxing hour walking about the town and the lighthouse taking photos.

Today we will dock in St. John, New Brunswick and do some sightseeing combined with a gourmet lunch.

The weather is cool and we need our sweaters, jackets and gloves, but it?s a beautiful early autumn up here and the trees and shrubs, while not at peak just yet, are quite colorful.

So there you have our report. Tomorrow we?ll be in Bar Harbor, Maine, then on to Boston and Newport.

Best wishes,

Jim
