Finally got to talk to my Dad and he seemed to sound alittle better.

He was glad he would be seeing his own doctor Wednesday (I didn't tell him I told his doctor's nurse whats been going on at the nursing home.)

Talked to my brother about an hour ago and he also very glad my Dad seeing his dr. Said he wouldnt call me back unless important.

Well 20 minuteds later my brother calls, my Dad's bloodwork is all over the place, as my brother put it all off whack. His white blood cell count very high.

So he has an infection, maybe from the catheter, maybe somewhere else. My brother is calling the nursning home back in a few minutes, the dr there making rounds. They are talking about sending my Dad back to the hospital in the morning.

After my brother talks to the dr hopefully sooner. My Dad is very relived to be going to the hospital where his own dr, cardiologist and the surgeon will see him.

I am worried about the bloodwork, hope nothing serious, but so glad he is getting out of that "rehab" and will finally be getting the care he should have all along.

Will let you know as soon as i hear. Also at the hospital he will have his own phone, so I don't have to spend hours trying to get to talkt to him.

My brother mentioned doing a conference call with his drs before he comes home so we both will know what to expect and how to help him. I WILL let them know the horrid treatment at the nursing home.

Pam

Hope he gets out of there and back to the hospital pronto. You will all remain in my prayers.

Sort of happy news. Glad he is getting out of the rehab but sorry about the infection. I hope it is nothing too serious. Please don't let them send him back there from the hospital.;);)

Best wishes.

Oh Pam, been watching your story unfold.
No One should go thorough what your father has. Stick to your guns and let people know whats been going on.

I pray that "Dad" will now get the proper care he so much deserves.

Hang tough there girl - we are all praying for your dad.

My brother called back, my Dad being admitted right now. My brother had just called my Aunt in Florida and they happened to be pulling into the nursing home parking lot, so they will be seeing him before he goes to the hospital.

Thanks for all well wishes and support.

Pam

Pamela, I'm so glad to hear he is going back to the hospital. Hopefully they will do a better job taking care of him and get everything back under control. I know you will rest better tonight knowing he is out of that awful nursing home.

The hospital is the right place for him at the moment. I will keep him in my prayers for a fast resolution to whatever the problem is.

I hope he never goes back to that terrible nursing home/rehab place.

I'm glad he is on his way to the hospital and the proper care. This will be a good opportunity for you and your brother to talk to the doctors and the social workers about a better solution when he is ready to leave the hospital this time.

As soon as you mentioned catheter, infection was my first thought and when you saw blood in the line, I new infection. Thank God he's outta there care now.

My brother called my Dad tonight, he does have a bladder infection.

They also had an infectious disease control person come in.

He is on antibiotics IV.

And will have an echo tomorrow to check the valve.

Pam

If he got a bladder infection from the cath, I'd hate to see what happens when they start an IV and give him a staph infection. Sorry, but that place should be closed down.

Pam, I'm [probably one of many] still following this, hoping all goes well for your dad. Best wishes :) .

I also have been following this thread and am happy your Dad is getting the care he needs. Hopefully, the hospital will think twice before sending more patients to that facility upon their release from the hospital.

Please let us know how he is doing.

Well the good news is the echo came out fine, no problem with new valve.

Still waiting for some blood work, regarding infection etc.

Dad has fluid in his lungs and legs more swollen. Being given shots of lasix.

Still on oxygen as his saturation rate down alittle.

Brother talked to him tonight and he said he is breathing alittle better.

Pam

Pam,

Happy to hear the valve is good - the rest can be fixed.

Hope things continue to improve and your dad is back with you very soon.
