How Much Aspirin Do You Take?

Hi all. I haven't posted in a while. The demands/desires of life have been keeping me very busy. I'm 14 weeks post-op now and doing well overall.

For those of you who have tissue valves, I was wondering how much aspirin you are taking. I have been taking 81 mg of coated aspirin twice a day. I take two pills because I understand that the coating causes you to absorb less medicine than an uncoated pill. I'm thinking of switching to one 81 mg pill of chewable baby aspirin a day. My concern is that the aspirin is causing the ringing in my ears to be worse (I have hearing loss and tinnitis) and that dropping back to 81 mg. might help with that problem.

I'm just curious to know what amount of aspirin your doctors have told you is adequate protection against clots. As always, thanks for your feedback.

Do any of you mech-valvers take asprin? I thought that it is not compatable with ACT. Asprin is helpful for me and so I would like to know if I will still be able to take it.

I was taking one 325mg enteric coated ASA daily. One night I was suffering from nausea and ended up vomiting. I noticed that the enteric coated ASA that I had taken 14 hours earlier came up intact. I have since switched to taking two 81mg chewable ASA daily (with my cardio's approval).
