Would you let "da Vinci" operate on you??

I'm pretty sure that others on this board have already had this type of surgery elswhere, but it sounds rather encouraging for those of you who are still in the waiting room.

Yes, I would have loved to have had the Da Vinci robot do my surgery. Unfortunatly at the moment it isn't availably for aortic valve replacement (here in Australia). I don't know if they are doing aortic valve replacement by robot in America yet but I'm sure it will only be a matter of time. The cardiac surgeries done by the Da Vinci robot here are:-

Mitral valve repair
Coronary artery bypass
Repair of atrial septal defect (hole in the heart)
Placement of epicardical pacemaker leads
Tricuspid value surgery
Pericardial drainage
Surgery for atrial fibrillation

It's exciting to think that in the future open heart surgery as we all know it will be a thing of the past
