Calling all my valver friends who had surgery before 30 yrs of age.

I had my AV replaced almost three years ago when I was 23. I had a bicuspid AV and so I had it replaced with a 29mm St Jude Mechanical. I am on warfarin and I have cut my self a ridiculous amount of times. I have obviously never died from bleeding and I manage my inr with my INRatio 2. I do not...

    Mechanical aortic valve and coumadin

as far as i know, or at least read, there isnt any drug that will replace warfarin at this time. "soon" can mean a lot of things..... i have all sorts of time for "soon" to get here! but i do believe that all the clinical trials have been stopped that would replace warfarin for aortic...

AVR, low INR, and aniety/panic attacks

Jay, the way i see it.... your inr dropped so low because you quit drinking(your docs should have upped your dosage to address this) I am on 200mg of metropal a day and many times through out the day my hr will be in the 90's, which makes my heart feel like it is going to beat out of my chest...

    cost of my Inratio2

i just cant see how they justify charging that much more for the unit..... they are in the ppo network for my insurance and i am sure that the ins comp will adjust the price. the only thing sterling medical has to do is the paper work and then Alere ships the stuff right to me! amazing how...

    cost of my Inratio2

So i find this pretty interesting..... I ordered an Inratio2 from Sterling Medical way back in Oct 2010. They are in my ppo network and my out of pocket was maxed out for the year, so i figured it was the perfect time to order one! and i recieved it shortly after. funny thing is that i never...

How Bad is aortic root dilation of 4.4 CM ? And questions I should ask.

I had my surgery last july after knowing about my issue for about two months. i had an anyerism of 4.6cm (and that caused my valve to be leaking and in "sever" stage) according to the ct scan and for some reason i was really pushing for surgery right away. my surgean felt that we could hold off...

Protecting your hands when working, while on blood thinners.

I am a young sheet metal worker. i beat my hands up all day long everyday. for basic cuts and scrapes i never have a problem. a good pair of gloves should always be kept on hand though.

    Getting that big drop

I have an Inratio 2. and i usually have a pretty tough time getting a good amount of blood for a sample. I have taken some good advice from someone on here and started running my tests directly after I take a shower.(it warms up my hands and also softens up the skin.) I currently use a varity...

Question about aortic valve replacement/ascending aorta repair

my surgery involved a st jude mech valve in a graft and then the rest of my ascending aorta in a dacron graft as well. i know that my surgeon mentioned that the coranary arteries could become twisted or collapse(and need to have bypass) but things seemed to work out ok while i was under the...

    frequency of INR testing

I test weekly. i have a home moniter that makes this easier. my cardio's office wanted me to only test monthly but my surgeon wants me to test weekly. the more frequency of testing keeps you better in range. and so if you do go out of range then your docs can adjust your dosage and get you...
