    ROSS Procedure Talk

I had a ROSS in 1997 at age 16. My pulmonary lasted in the aortic position for just 12 years. My personal opinion: Why would you cut out two valves when only one has a problem?

    Endocarditis ?

Have you had your blood proteins checked lately? That was my problem and my symptoms were very similar. Just an overall feeling like a truck ran you over.

    BNP Blood Test

You are most likely fine and not in heart failure. Mine runs 250-350 and I'm in active failure. If you are swelling in the feet or abdomen call your cardiologist.

    Riding the INR roller coaster

In my opinion, "safer" would be within range. I prefer to run at the high end of my range 3.5- just because you can't replace brain cells. It took me over 6 months to regulate my INR. I went through 3 different doctors until I found one that understood my philosophy. I am in the states though.

One thing I've yet to do....

Try some prunes. I did colace and milk of magnesia, but prunes were the only thing that really worked.

Severe Aortic stenosis and possible coronary artery problems?

Echos don’t always show everything they need to. It has happened to me before. Some of it depends on the skill of the tech. I have a totally collapsed right coronary. Do you know what specific issues they are looking for with your coronary arteries?

    Worried about home testing

Some of us have been poked constantly by labs for 30 years, with at hopefully at least another 30 to go. For me, home testing is the only way to go. I just email results to my doc and if out of range, I just tell him what I'm doing to fix it. Once you get the hang of it, its awesome.

    Heart Cath... Required?

The CT & TEE probably showed everything he needed to know. I didn't have a cath before any of mine. The staph thing must be new. I've never had that test.

    Feeling nautious, tired, etc.

Do you have allergies? I know after my first surgery I had a hard time with sinus drainage in my tummy making me nauseous and vomiting. Allergies can also make you tired because your body is fighting back. I also had car sickness after my 2nd surgery. I couldn't ride in a car for almost 6...

Sternum pain and SOB - related? Costocondritas?

I had costochondritis after my first surgery. Felt like someone was stabbing me with a hot poker when I breathed in or moved. I didn't really have sob, I just didn't want to breathe because of the pain. I had high dose ibuprofin and steriods for about a week and it resolved.

    FINALLY getting there!

I take 10mg daily and have to increase in the summers. I weigh 130lbs. I've meet people in the lab I go to that take 20mg daily. I don't think there is a "high dose". Its really just what keeps you in range.

i am so confused about ross procedure

I had a Ross in 1997. It lasted 12 years. I would seek a second opinion. If I could go back, I would not have two valves replaced when I only needed one. If you have any specific questions, let me know.

Given two options to slow rising INR - which one to do?

3.4 is not critical and I would have made no changes. Reducing by half seems a little extreme to me. What is your range and what dose are you taking?

    Laughing gas OK?

I am having one of my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow. I have never tried gas and think I might need to this time. I am kinda concerned about it interacting with my digoxin & beta blockers. I have a call into my cardio but the chances of hearing back before my appointment are slim. Anyone else...

    Playing the waiting game....

I'm in the same boat as you Sarah with the pulmonary & multiple surgeries. We are too young for this crap! Just keep your head up and keep moving forward.

    New Cardio Question

I would run and fast. You really need a yearly echo.

    High Heart Rate

If you are taking lasix, you may want to add a potassium supplement if you already haven't.

Scar is still red and slightlyl raised...

My itchy-ness comes and goes. Its worse in the spring & fall. I think because I have allergies. Try the benadryl spray. It works wonders.
