Can someone tell me about internet, etc at CCF?

Most hospitals have pretty strict visiting rules and schedules for ICU and coronary recovery units. It's probably best to call the patient advocate at CC to find correct and specific answers to your questions.

Anyone have a-fib/palpitations after surgery that went away?

Life post-op is filled with new and different feelings. Sometimes it's hard to figure out what's real and what's being created by the grey matter. I had all kinds of feelings of irregulars heart beats, palpatations and thumping going on for the first thirty days post op and those...

    Surgery tomorrow

Chin up, John. The prayers of a lot of people are with you. You'll wake up and be a whole new person. As the time slips by post-op, you'll forget all about the surgery and move on, feeling better and doing more. Best wishes and we'll see you post! Gerry

    My Story

Terri: Welcome! We watched my murmur from the time I was a young kid. At 55 the cardio said "no issue, surgery is in your future but no time soon". At 59 - and leading a very active life - all of a sudden, one day I couldn't climb a ladder twice without having to take a time-out, sitting to...

    upcoming echo

Jerome: Hang in there. I lived with the knowledge of heart problems since age 10 and at age 59 it finally caught up to me. I hate to think of how many EKG's, echo's, etc I've had over the years. You should be comforted by the fact that medicine has advanced and continues to advance...

Time for operation is here, questions to ask in advance

What's your age? Wife? Kids? Other close family? You'll have to make decisions as to who will (should) be there. It's not simple because if you have out-of-town travelers, your wife or kids could end up as tour guides and baby sitter; thus a distraction. Are your personal affairs in order...

    Thumping in chest

I admit it. I'm a thumper. It was really noticeable at first. Now at about 1 1/2 years post, it's nearly gone.

    3 days before AVR

The nerves never kicked in for me - I was just anxious to get it over with. My surgery was real close to my diagnosis so the busy work in getting prepared helped occupy my time. Best wishes to you. Gerry

    Visitors after surgery

Like others have posted, I wanted peace and quiet during my hospital stay and limited visits to only my wife. I told my kids, both of whom live a good distance away, to stay home as they'd get a call as soon as I cleared the OP table. I DID, however, get a major ars chewing from one of the...

    Activities in Hospital after surgery

Terry: If it's anything like my experience, the time will pass quickly. I was in on Thursday, out on Monday morning. Once out of recovery, I spent a lot of time with the walker, supervising the nursing staff. For some strange reason they paid little attention to me. At any rate, the hospital...

    Mini-stenotomy vs full stenotomy AVR

Good choice on the valve and the procedure! Best wishes to you both! Ask for the gold-plated valve. It's a little more expensive but adds a nice touch!:D

Eager to get pregnant after MVR 3 yrs ago....

Did he elaborate as to why you shouldn't? If he didn't offer an explanation, I'd inquire further or get a second opinion. It could be the coumadin or might be complications during your two previous pregnancies?
