    6 Months post op

It's been 6 months since my second MVR. Just wanted to report, that all is well, and I am still alive.. No real issues, a few small things, but in general, I've been working a lot. Dr says I can now start to workout with weights.. I'm hoping to get some shape back to my muscles.. Happy...

    Dry mouth?

Might not mean anything, but since I have returned to work, my mouth had been dry, and I "think" I drink enough to replace all that I sweat. I have a physically active job. I can suck on a candy to give a temp fix.. Am I dehydrated, or maybe a sign of something else going on? It's not major...

I need a great Cardiologist in the Chicago area:

I'm 3 months post op, for my 2nd MVR. I'm a car hauler/truck driver, working in the entire Chicago area, but my terminal is in the Aurora/Napperville area. I spend about 70% of my time in the Chicago area, and think it might be wise to have a 2nd Dr there. I need someone who is willing to...

Echo before returning to work shows no more leak!!

This echo follows the one from the CC, just after the surgery, and just like the one at CC, shows zero leakage. I returned to work today, one month ahead of schedule, and plan to ease into things. Thanks for all the prayers and support from all those here on this forum. I don't feel as limited...

What to take for joint pain, that doesn't affect Asprin

I get aches and pains, and need to be able to take something that doesn't counter act the Asprin I take. I've been told that Advil is a no no, when taken with Asprin.

Crim results: 35th out of 1137 entrants!!

http://results.active.com/pages/displayNonGru.jsp?orgID=216362&rsID=82795 Ok, first of all it was only a 5K walk, per Dr's limits. I guess you could say that I trained, if you count the 4 weeks of cardiac rehab that I did. I'm 2 months post op from my second mitral valve repair. I have a ton...

I've been cleared for work!! 8 weeks post op.

I'm feeling great, I've been walking, running, working on the car.. I feel I can just as lazy at work, taking it easy, as I can at home. I'm 8 weeks post op, and today's echo shows ZERO leakage!! I haul new cars, in the Chicago area, and the midwest.. I've been laid off since November, and...

    Lets talk rehab limitations:

I just finished my 3rd week of rehab.. I've been walking for 60 min straight, on the treadmill, walking as fast as 4.5 mph, but average 4 mph @ 2% grade. My pulse at 4 mph averages 140-143. I have been progressing along great, without issue, and I have been progressively building up my running...

7 weeks post op, 3rd week of rehab..

Things are going great, and very un-eventful.. I still have sternum pain, and weird pains in my chest when moving around in the bed. Other than that, it's going great. I am in my 3rd week of rehab. I'm now up to 60 min of solid walking, grade 2 incline, and ramping up to 4.3 mph. Plenty of...

    1 week of rehab down..

Last week was my first week of rehab. I'm 6 weeks post op,, for MVR at CC. It went pretty well. They said they don't see many young people in there, and they didn't take it too easy on me.. I have to do a combined 40 min of continuous activity. I was concerned when my heart rate was up to 150...

6 week post of update & rehab update

Today I am 6 weeks post op, for my second mitral valve repair in 3 years.. Last time I got sick listening to the few people who had an uneventful recovery. I felt terrible right up to the time when I went back to work 3 months after. Well, this time I I'm happy to report that I am one of the...

    coffee

At what point can I begin to drink my 1 or 2 cup a day? I know that it's too soon now, I'm only coming up on 2 weeks post op on my second MVR. I'm thinking maybe 6 to 8 weeks? I dont think that I had any symptoms attributed to drinking. I had a few mild mis beats, that came on whether I was...

Slept on my back last night!!

I'm one week PS, got home last Fri, so one week tomorrow. I tried the first day to lay down, but only lasted 1 1/2 hrs then, before having to get up, because of the discomfort, and being startled. Last 2 days, I extended that time out to a few hours, before having to get up and sleep on the...

    BP after surgery:

I've never really had high BP, at one time the numbers were high, and though the DR gave me medication, I never took it. A diet lower in salt brought it right back down to what was normal for me. Before surgery, I averaged 138-80. Now only one week after surgery to repair the mitral valve, I'm...

    Anyone else have muscle ache?

I just MVR done June 15th. I'm home recovering. I'm noticing muscle aches in my forearm, bicep, and in my neck. Especially in my neck this morning. I usually wake up feeling a bit stiff, which doesn't go away until I get on the treadmill for a 3-4 mph. I have the usual chest and back pains...

Yes, I made it out alive @ made it home!!

Thanks to Steve & Dee for the updates.. As stated in previous post, I had decided to go with an OnX mitral valve replacement, after first giving Dr Pettersson the option of making the call of a repair, or replacement. After much thinking, I wanted to get the OnX, for peace of mind in never...

Update on having surgery filmed, Dr's answer

I asked Dr Pettersson if he would film the operation, he asked if I wanted to watch a video of what he was going to do. I told him that I wanted to see what he was doing inside me, since he was going to be in there anyway... He said yes, just remind me, which I certainly will.. Yahoo, something...

    Final results from Dr Pettersson.

I went in for my pre op test results. The condensed: I have a mild enlargement of the heart, that is is expected to return to normal after recovery. My mitral valve is "moderately severe" 3-4, closer to 4. The RN in layman terms, says the mitral valve is leaking very bad. Dr Pettersson states...

    In Cleveland @ CC

Ready to be poked and prodded tomorrow, Tue, and Wed. I hope all goes well, and to get a fresh perspective on what's going on. Got to fast for 12 hrs, which will likely end up being 15... I did stop drinking coffee this last week, and as a result I'm even more tired.. Night to everyone.
