    Awake and recovering

Definitely feeling this at the moment! Yeah it seems like a pretty typical complication post surgery. One of the docs even said he sees high heart rates and tachycardias more in young people who get the surgery.

No, the tubes themselves just feel really really weird, but they dont hurt coming out. What did hurt were the sutures that were set up to tighten and seal the wound as the tubes came out, but I wouldn't say that pain was worse than a 3 for me.

    Awake and recovering

Hey all, another update: I got discharged on Tuesday but had some tachycardia issues at home (heart rate stuck at 160+) so had to go back to the ER. They said it wasnt actually afib or atrial flutter but just a generic "atrial tachycardia". Either way, nothing consistently worked to stop it so...

    Discharge INR

Thanks for all the info everyone, appreciate you. I took 3.75mg yesterday and my INR today is 2.39! So that's great. Now they just want me taking 2.5mg to see if that will maintain it :)

    Discharge INR

Hmm, yeah fair. Getting my own monitor? But I'm sure I can ask my cardiologist about that next week. No I do have them, warfarin and other stuff. Doesn't include aspirin.

    Discharge INR

Mostly like, should I push for anything here? Should I follow their advice no matter what (within reason)? And should I maybe grab some aspirin just to be safe?

    Discharge INR

L Lol yeahhh. Well, I'm going home and getting my INR checked tomorrow at a clinic, so it should be ok. Probably just overthinking it a bit.

    Discharge INR

Hey all! I just had my aortic valve and root replaced with an On-X mechanical prosthesis on May 8th. My INR was hanging around 1.3 while I was on a 2.5mg dose for 3 days after I got out of the ICU. (Obviously they've had me on heparin shots since the surgery.) They finally bumped the Warfarin...

    Awake and recovering

Day 4, almost slept through the night, with a few hour gap in between. Still no sign of INR going up much so hopefully that improves soon. Still moving more and everything, hopefully going to take my first shower today. Going to get my partner to pick up some food from outside cause the food...

Surgery in a week! (Mechanical Bentall)

Yeah for sure. Totally fine by me though, I'm more than happy to wait so other people can have their lives potentially saved. I'm probably near the bottom of the list in terms of how risky it is to delay my surgery lol

Surgery in a week! (Mechanical Bentall)

Surgery in a week! (Mechanical Bentall)

I do have fresh towels and shirts/robes and slip-ons ready to go! I have Blue Cross Blue Shield as my insurance. I guess I'll see what their policy is about this stuff, but I'll definitely make sure to clarify the post-discharge plan while I'm in the hospital, thank you for the advice everyone...

Thank you so much for the kind words and advice everyone, really can't tell you how much I appreciate it and how much it helps <3 About the recliner, I don't really have room in my apartment for one unfortunately. I got a set of memory foam wedge pillows so I can prop myself up in bed in a...
