    Emergency Information on phone

Carolinemc, I don't know if you have an iPhone but you or an EMT should be able to get into emergency screen without face ID, fingerlock or passcode. Try it. Place your thumb across the camera and swipe up until the pass code request appears (it takes a few seconds). In the bottom corner is...

Severe aortic regurgitation and now mild mitral regurgitation

I'm not sure if this helps, but for many years I have vacillated between trace, mild, trace mitral regurgitation. Including during my run up to severe aortic stenosis. It's probably nothing to worry about at this time but be sure to ask all of your questions during the next visit.

    Lipoprotein(a) | Lp(a) test

Got my results back. Lp(a) was 17.3 nmol/L. Maybe I will succeed in getting more mileage out of my biovalve, but who knows.

Surgery in a week! (Mechanical Bentall)

Good luck Diedra. Regarding last minutes tips, you have probably done everything you can at this point so leave it to the surgery team now. All the best and see you on the other side. It will be over before you realize it.

Valve disease presentation by Dr. Kevin Hodges

Thanks Chuck. I was “symptom free” but demonstrated the classic BP drop during stress echo due to severe aortic stenosis. No heart wall damage thankfully but my cardiologist shined the light on the level of risk.

    332 Days Out Of Surgery

So today I woke up and decided to hit my self assigned recovery goal. I had a goal to climb a mountain near where I live before my one year anniversary. Eleven miles total and a climb to 2100 feet. It was a beautiful day, water flowing and flowers blooming. My heart rate rarely hit above 130...

37 yr old with BAV and Severe AR

Sam, initially I had a concern with a resident/fellow driving the surgery. That's the price you pay for using a high volume teaching and learning facility. But by no means are they unsupervised and the entire team is "at the ready" to address any unforeseen complications. As it turns out, my...

    30M, Aortic aneurysm, Bicuspid valve.

First off, welcome to the board. In 2003 I had valve sparing aneurysm repair. In addition to the aneurysm I had a bicuspid aortic valve. It lasted 20 years and 13 years past the current data. But I did eventually require BAV replacement surgery in 2023 and most likely you will too. I was 63...
