    Four years yesterday...

Thank you Pellicle :) I have replied to your private message, but forgot to say that I am really taking on board your comments in another post about multiple surgeries. I chose a tissue valve this time because I would like the opportunity to have children. I also have a great fear of warfarin...

    46 years, Aug 16,1967......ONE valve

Thank you Dick! You have made me reconsider my ánti' stance on warfarin / mechanical valves for myself up until this point. I've just turned 30, have a four year old porcine aortic valve and a future holding more than one additional heart surgery is not a tempting one! Thanks for your words :)

    Four years yesterday...

Hello all, It has been a long time since I've been on this site. I celebrated my fourth anniversary yesterday. It is always a mixed time for me (I have had very frequent migraines since my surgery), but this time is especially so because my lovely Mum passed away two months ago (at 54), and...

One year down, many more to go!

Fantastic achievements, congratulations. My first year was very hard following surgery, lots of emotional and physical stuff to work through. But at 2 years now things are looking better and better!

    Two years with piggy today

Someone on here told me I would probably feel much better on my 2nd anniversary than my 1st, and I think they were right! Celebrating two years with piggy today. Still getting migraines (since surgery) which can be really hard to deal with BUT otherwise compared with this time last year, I am...

It's my one year anniversary today! Happy Birthday Piggy!!

Wow, I made it. Never has a year gone by so quickly and at times so agonisingly slowly. I remember (it seemed like all of a sudden, and basically, it was) in October 2009 I could no longer breathe properly when I walked. Stairs would literally take a whole hour to recover from climbing...

question: do I still have a 'heart condition'?

Thanks for all the info! I'm a New Zealander but am lucky enough to have an Irish passport as well. I was a resident in London at the time of my surgery and had it there. I think I could have had it there even without the passport but it sure saved a lot of hassle. I tried to come back to...

    Why a tissue valve?

Thanks for that, was most interested in the men who had tissue valves, as to why that would be (obviously not to be able to have children). I have reposted under Valve Selection!

Why did you choose a tissue valve?

Hi there, To all of you with tissue valves, I have been really interested and surprised reading through this site to find a few younger men who have had bovine or porcine valve replacements. I have a porcine valve and my reasons for choosing a tissue valve were twofold: the main one was I...

question: do I still have a 'heart condition'?

Hi, I'm just going to post an email I sent to my cardiologist today. I'm sure he will answer my question but I'm interested to hear your thoughts. Can you please tell me, I have been confused about this for many months now, do I still have a heart condition / heart disease? I assume what I...
