1981, Diagnosed with Aortic Stenosis. My Cardiologist said the valve would have to be replaced in about 10 years. He was correct. I never knew there was a problem until a month before surgery I blacked out during my daily fast walk.
Road trips, cruises and Tauck bus tour, digital photography, ATV riding, Internet, fishing, boating, guns/reloading, wife and I are Benefactor Members of the NRA. Daily walk 3 miles.

- Surgery
- AVR, 6/1991, Texas Heart Institute, Houston. Age 56, other than valve, in excellent health. Major complications from surgery, 20 days in hospital and 21 pints of blood, I supplied 4 of those, lost 22 pounds. Excellent health since recovery.
- Medications
- Warfarin and 81 MG coated aspirin.
Others but not heart related:
Gemfibrozil, elevated Triglycerides.
Synthroid, Under active, Thyroid disease.
Triamterene, Water pill to help blood pressure.
Pantoprazole, history of bleeding ulcer.

- Director of Petrochemical Operations for a major corporation... retired after 32 years. I started as an hourly plant operator working swing shift.
