I haven't posted anything here in about a month. A lot has happened! I finally met my surgeon on 3/31 after weeks of waiting and wondering what he would want to do. Due to my family history, symptoms, 5.0cm aortic root, and 4.2cm ascending aorta, he chose to schedule sooner rather than later...

I had my cath on Monday too. It was a cakewalk! My arteries are pristine and I'm ready to go to the OR on Tuesday. Good luck tomorrow, Dachsie!

My cardiac cath is tomorrow too (surgery is 4/14) & I have zero anxiety about it...I'm reserving all my anxiety for the surgery. LOL

Hi Don, You responded to my original post here when I was wondering what the surgeon would say at our initial meeting. He wanted to schedule it for this week, but I asked for an extra week. Yes, I'll be very glad when next Tuesday is here and I'm safely in their hands. Thanks! KB

I'm joining the Zipper Club ranks a little sooner than I expected. I met with my surgeon today about my aneurysm. It's measuring 5.0 cm and I have been symptomatic with a family history, so this baby has to go. I will be having a David procedure on April 14....and I'm feeling very shell shocked!

I came across two Facebook groups for OHS/valve surgery warriors: The Zipper Club Heart Valve Surgery Support Group I also heard about a support group called Mended Hearts that has chapters all over the US. My big appointment to meet the surgeon is two days away!

Wow, I'm surprised that they delayed the surgery for the genetic results. I'm going to ask for genetic screening as well since my grandmother, her father, and my uncle have all had aortic aneurysms and all had dissections. My uncle's was abdominal, my grandmother's was thoracic, and not sure...

I'm definitely trying to stay positive so I'm not attributing every twinge to the aneurysm, but it always is near the forefront of my mind. That ER visit at the beginning of the month could have quite possibly saved my life. That's a sobering fact right there....needless to say, the $720...
