    Migraine Study

Interesting! I have headaches since my 20's but never put the two together. I get the floaties in my eyes then BAM a full blown headache. Ibuprofen used to help but lately, not so much. My mom had heart issues but we didn't really know until she was in A-Fib before cataract surgery at age...

Still figuring out low Ejection Fraction

Thanks for that. I need to hear more of that. I'm pretty sure half my problem is me worrying about it. I never had a symptom of anything until I heard my EF was a 45. The mind is a very powerful thing...

Still figuring out low Ejection Fraction

Does it seem reasonable that my heart may have had some damage with a mitral valve leaking for 49 years? We are trying to figure out why my ejection fraction is now at a 45 after my valve was repaired in 2009. My cardiologist doesn't seem too concerned with a 45 and says that number goes up...

annual exam with Echo or not?

Thank you for that info! I guess I'm finding myself feeling pretty luck we even did an echo. Good info and I guess you gotta trust your doctor and your gut feeling that something may not be quite right. Thanks, again!

annual exam with Echo or not?

I was getting echos yearly until I had my mitral valve repaired in 2009. My cardiologist basically thought I was fixed. I had annual EKG's etc that were perfect and he could hear that I wasn't leaking anymore. However, a recent echo (only having on a whim, really) showed my Ejection Fraction...

    Post-mitral valve repair echo

Thanks for the reply..I get lightheaded too for the same reasons you do, and its not my heart. Darn hormones! I'm right with you with the low blood pressure. I have been exercising a lot and that is helping everything. Good luck to you! Glad things are all good! :)

    Post-mitral valve repair echo

I know this is a late post, but just wondering if you got your echo. I didn't have an echo either after my surgery. Cardiologist listened to me and said I was "perfect" and "fixed". 3 years later...I get lightheaded and he thought he may want to do an echo to make sure I don't have an...

Ejection Fraction 45 3 years post Mitral Valve repair

Hi again, Gerry, I was thinking...did your cardiologist have you do any rehab after your MVR? Mine didn't...which was surprising to me but I wonder if that is why my EF is lower than I would have expected. Are you doing anything for rehab? Besides being on two meds I'm at the gym doing...

Ejection Fraction 45 3 years post Mitral Valve repair

Wow...good luck with that! I know that number goes up and down. I hope that when you get your echo it hits that 50 mark. The thing is..who really knows their EF except people like us who have had echo's and heart surgery. Of course, if you have(had) a leaky valve that plays a part. I feel...

Ejection Fraction 45 3 years post Mitral Valve repair

Thank you! I'm thinking the same thing. I'm doing some major cardio and will get a repeat echo in 3 months. If nothing else, its getting me to the gym.

Ejection Fraction 45 3 years post Mitral Valve repair

I had mitral valve repair in 2009...doing great. My cardiologist didn't get an echo either. I had an episode of dizziness a month ago and went to my internist who sent me to my cardiologist. My cardiologist told me he didn't think this was at all heart related as I have so other symptoms. I...

    Short of Breath...in my head?

Hi everyone. I'm about a month out from my mitral valve repair (I had it done on August 5th). I am doing well and really feel like I'm pretty much back to normal. When I went for my followup with my primary care and he told me that eventually my shortness of breath will go away. I just...

    Upcoming Mitral Valve Surgery

Hi! Oh, I do understand your anxiety but trust me, it will be OK. I had minimally invasive/robotic mitral valve repair on August 5th of this year. Gee, that was about a month ago! My mitral valve was leaking a 4 out of a 4 so I was pretty bad. 2 of my leaflets were also damaged but we didn't...

    Ross??? where are you?

This site has helped me so much and prepared me for a surgery that was probably the toughest thing I've ever had to face. Ross, thanks for all you do here at VR. Take your time to grieve. Come back to us when you are ready. Take care.

    Terrence "Tbone" McNulty 01/15/1963-08/29/2009

I am so sad to hear of this news. I have been away for a few days and come back to hear this. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I got some wonderful advice from him. What a great guy.
