    I have a ON X large one..Did a lot of checking around Think that was the best. INR level Surgeon wants it 2-3 Self check at home every 2 weeks. My surgery was over 4 years ago.     Ecko results

    History,Mitral Valve replaced Aug.10. 2009(OnX).Tricuspid at that time was Mild.(leakage).Had Ecko in Dec 09.Ecko repeated earlier this year. Tricuspid was Mild- Moderate.Dont want this to go to enlarged or Heart Failure. I know I will be closely monitored.Any ideas or suggestions?. Thanks.

    Where did you get Coaguchek XS Machine/Did insurance cover it?

    I too use a CoaguChek XL, Good Meter.My range is 2.0-3.0,Checking every 2 weeks ,call the INR clinic here, They take care of any doseing changes (if needed).My insurance took care of it (not even a co payment.) same for all testing stuff.

    On-X vs. St Jude Mechanical valve

    I too have a OnX valve (Mitral),Did a lot of research on the net & thats the one I chose.Surgeon wanted a INR of 2-3,Do home check with CougaChek.Take daily dose of Warfarin of 4 Mgs.Do sometimes hear it.But its not as bad as it was at first.Would choose it if i had to do it over.

    CoaguChek S - WILL BE DEAD IN OCTOBER 2011

    Thank goodness I have the latest meter(XL). Do have some trouble at times getting enough blood on strip. Otherwise its great. Todays check was 2.7 (weekly) Surgeon wants range 2.0 3.0

    Potential for future bleeding event on Coumadin

    Never heard of that,Im 71 years old.I also have the OnX Valve & it uses a INR of 2.0-3.0 so dont need as much Warfarin.

    Best wishes on your recovery.Like has ben said take care of your chest, it will pay greately later.I too have a cat,it will just take some time, as for now just have someone hold the cat for you to pet.Sorry you had a time post op. Great its behind you.

    Anyone on the On-X study here?

    I to have a OnX valve, in the Mitral position,hear it sometimes,doesnt bother me,Last INR was 2.1.Surgeon wants 2.0-3.0. Checked monthly.Early next year will go no Home testing.

    Confused about valve choice

    I had a decision to make too,I was 70 when I had my surgery,chose the On X valve (Mitral) position.Didnt want any more surgerys.My INR is stable, 2.3 last check,Now only have to go every month,Surgeon wanted it to be 2.0-3.00 range.Will go to home checks after the first of the year.Very pleased...

    valve choise for radiation damaged valve

    I have a On X valve in the Mitral Position (ITS GREAT). Surgeon wanted INR level of 2-3. I take take Warfarin 3Mgs Monday & Friday & 4 Mgs all the rest of the week.My insurance has a Coumadin clinic. Was thereThursday level was 2.3 so was pleased. Dont have to go back for a month.Will go on...
