Working overtime may harm the heart

Maybe I'm the exception! From Nov. of 95 to Jan of 04 I worked 60 to 84 hours a week as a machinist/metal fabricator/pipe fitter! I still found time to go to the gym on the way home to lift weights and aerobic exercise. I wasn't over weight, didn't smoke or drink, and ate right! My question...

    Multaq, again

Sent you a pm. My heart rate is also in the middle 50's, but was same on amiodarone too! Multaq is amiodarone without the iodine, so I doubt he will change you. Stay with it, I'm sure it will work for you---David L

    Multaq

Debi: I've been on Multaq since Sept. of 09. I had about 3 bouts of A-fib since my AVR in august of 08 up to Sept. of 09. I ended up in the ER with atrial flutter, which was corrected with amiodarone. The next day I was in A-fib again. I went to my new cardio who put me on Multaq. I was back...

    Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation

Paf Paf I had PAF off and on about twice a year from 2002 until my AVR in August of 08. I went into a-fib 2nd day after surgery. They put me on amiodarone for a few days, and it went away. I have since been in a-fib 3 different times since, my last in Sept of 09. My cardio put me on the new...

    16 month post op echo

Just got a copy of my Dec. 22, 09 echo, which is 16 months post op. Everything is looking good. My heart has remodeled back to normal size! New Medtronic Freestyle Aortic Valve is working fine, no regurg. In fact the tech let me see it working when I had the echo done. The other 3 valves are...

    Collateral damage?

Collateral Damage Collateral Damage Everyone is different. I had my AVR in August of 08, and still sometimes when I reach a certain way, or pull I still get a twinge from time to time. I blame it somewhat on age too! (70) We should all be thankful we're over the mountain now and are feeling...

    question about life-long Coumadin

Yes, Either Dr. Miller or Dr. Scott Mitchell at Stanford. Each are equally good in my opinion. Dr. Mitchell did my AVR and dilated aortic root, using a Medtronics Freestyle valve on 08/05/08. I couldn't be happier with the results, and with Stanford hospital. Everyone there are a real class act!! :)

    Arrhythmia's still

Do yourself a big favor and get an appointment with a good cardiologist at the University Hospital in Iowa City. Often times the small town doctors don't see enough patients with our kinds of problems to be that good at a proper diagnosis. I came from a small town in Iowa 50 years ago, and never...

    Drugs for A-Fib

Drugs for A-fib Drugs for A-fib Mileen46 and others. This is my Multaq story for what it's worth. I had been on amiodarone since my AVR in August of 08. I was in A-fib from day 2 of surgery until the end of the month. My cardio put me on amiodarone, which converted me to NSR in 5 days. I got a...

    Scary post-surgical sleep problem

Post surgery sleep Post surgery sleep BillB If you are where I was at Stanford, the trauma center is right next door. The helicopters kept me awake day and night. Finally on the 5th day I told them to send me home so I could sleep. On day 6 they did, and I slept fine at home, and have...

    Amiodarone?

I was on it for a little over a year. It was starting to bother my lungs. My cardio put me on the new drug Multaq, and my lungs cleared up in less than a week! :)

    Cardiac Ablation

Braveheart, I am one of those people she is talking about. I have been on Multaq since October 1st with great results. It kicked my A-fib in 2 days. Find another cardio that will prescribe it for you until you have an ablation at least. There are no major side affects, and like others...

Yearly cardio visit, have afib now

There is no need to take amiodarone anymore, as the new drug Multaq is now avaliable in the USA. It's also known as dronedarone. It is like amiodarone without the iodine, and without the nasty side affects. I have been on it for about 30 days now, and it stopped the A-fib in just 2 days, without...

    Questions before my Ross

I received a Medtronic Freestyle Aortic valve at Stanford on August 5th 2008. Because of periodic A-fib problems prior to my surgery, I was on Lanoxin and Calan prior to surgery. I had A-fib post surgery for about a month. I was put on Amiodarone by my local cardio a week after surgery. In 5...
