Hello Friends, I just wanted to share the results of Andrew's latest card visit. His aortic valve & asc. aorta have remained relatively stable. Also helping him out was a nice bit of growth, which adds to his BSA (body surface area). The larger BSA & relative stability of the valve & aorta means good news for Andrew for now. This is such a roller coaster ride, up & down, worry & relief.... Last year, Andrew was really riding the line where the doc said we could go either way with starting medication to control the aortic dilation & his left ventricle was at the upper limits. I was fully prepared to have medication happen this year, but now we're good for at least another year. When I look back at Andrew's cardiac health, it seems that every other year tends to be the one where he has big changes, and fitting to that pattern, this was indeed a "good" year. I have not seen a copy of the echo report yet, I'll be anxious to see what all his numbers are this year. Many thanks to this community, which has helped me keep my sanity the last several years.

Oh, such good news!! I don't know how you mothers and fathers do it. If it were my children and not me, I would be beside myself. Please give yourself a hug for being such a wonderful advocate for your darling son's health and future. You are a fantastic mother!!!!!!!

Aren't growth patterns funny? Each child so different. Your information about body surface and many other peculiarities to children are probably going to be very useful to other parents who search on VR.com. Thanks for being so forthcoming with your news as it progresses and changes.

Stay strong. Keep at it! And most of all, enjoy your amazing Andrew!!

Best wishes.

Hey Jen
thats awesome!

that, unfortunatelly seems to be the way with CHD'ers, especially those with aortic valve issues, hopefully everything will stay stable till he stops growing, then things should plateau for a while!

anyways, congrats!

What would the world do without Moms? It's so great that it seems you'll have a little rest..those who watch over us sometimes know when we need one. Enjoy the now and you'll be able to deal with what comes. My 14 yr old grandson has been type 1 diabetic since age 2 and it really is a roller coaster of emotion living with a child with a chronic condition. Keep looking forward and keep us advised....even if you just need a place to vent, we're here to listen.

Thanks everyone for the kind responses! One other benefit to this great check-up is that I don't have to spend hours at my computer trying to figure out how to update Andrew's profile & signature! :D:D:D

I used to love roller coasters .

Glad to hear that you get another year. Be good to yourself also. I know how hard this is for you too.
