Hello, my question to anyone who can offer an opinion or experience: I went to the emergency room yesterday and found out had tooth abscesses and fractured tooth, broken part under gumline cutting gums and was bleeding. Sent me home with clindamycin? and hydrocodone{will not take that one}anyway, I am going to Baylor Dental College here in Dallas on Monday for oral surgery. Has anyone had a tooth abscess dealt with, what did the dentist do to you and do you remember an estimated amount for that procedure? My Cardiologist nurse told me to take regular dosage through weekend with antibiodics and find out Monday what will happen. Seems like I will be anitcoagulated as usual. Nothing was said by the Dr./Dental surgeon in the er about that part of it. By the way for local Dallassites and DFWers', I went to the Physician Referral Emergency Center on Gaston, it is very state of the art and really nice inside. Not part of the public emergency center.
Thanks, Carla.

Clindamycin is the antib that I take pre-dental.
My hubby had a bad tooth that abcessed, he took the antibs and went back to our family dentist for the extraction.
I think it was around $300.

Abcessed tooth

Abcessed tooth

Several years ago I experienced a tooth-ache. Dentist couldn't determine the cause with x-rays and there was no response when the suspected tooth was tapped for pain. He put me on antibiotics (luckily) and made a second appointment.

By the time the abcess was diagnosed I felt that I had several aching teeth. As a matter of fact my whole lower jaw ached. Dentist performed a root canal while I was fully anti-coagulated.

I don't think clindomycin was the antibiotic prescribed and the pain killer was oxycondon. We're so lucky to have the drugs available that we need when we need them.

I had an abcessed tooth a couple of months ago. I think it cost $300. -$350. Kind of expensive isn't it?? Well, what's not? I pre-med on clindamycin. In that particular case my "old" dentist put me on erythamycin.(sp). Good luck to you.

Need Advice:Tooth Abscess and Warfarin

Hello again, another pest question.
I tested 3.9 Monday and dentist/oral surgeon postponed tooth extraction until next Tuesday. Taking Clindamycin?3 a day. Wednesday, today, had vein draw at primary drs. lab, says it is 1.71. agh. Took 2.75 on Monday, 7.5 Tuesday and had just taken 7.5 Wednesday, today. Two different nurses said to take different dosages. Went with coumadin clinic nurse and added 2.75 Wednesday for total of 10 mgs. Nurse told me to take another ptr in morning at coumadin clinic on Thursday. Will the extra 2.75 today help with the 1.71 ptr reading? Thanks, Carla. my range is 2.5-3.5, and have had many changes in dosages in last month, all over the place, just started the antibiodics on Saturday.
