Surgery Scheduled for 10/17

Hello All,

Well, after meeting with surgeon I finally have a date.

Aortic valve replacement and triple bypass will be on 10/17/08 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Hanover, New Hampshire by Dr. Lawrence Dacey with a bovine tissue valve.

Now that my wife and I are starting to tell people, seems a little more real. Very nervous right now because I just don't know what to expect.

But I have always been a good healer and so I am optimistic.

I just turned 65 in September. My wife, Millie and I, have been married for 40 years and I want to get through this successfully. Thank you all for being with me,

Best wishes for a speedy recovery,You are 11 days before me. My Aunt lives in Bridgewater and my Grandma was in that hospital a few times before she passed last year at 93. My daughter is at Castleton and has friends from Barre..Small world. We are headed up there today... Louanne

I remember getting my date just 2 weeks ahead and wondering what the heck I was doing.....calling family members with the date was definitely a strange experience.
My thoughts were muddled, but I left a notebook of instructions to care for my pets.
Everything else just falls into place.
I hope Millie has some support for herself also, spouses can feel helpless at this time.
