When I saw my surgeon I meant to ask him how long I need to wait before I can swim in a pool. I remember when I had my first OHS, he told me to wait but I forget how long. Any of you gotten instructions in this regard from your surgeons? I hate to call his nurses to ask. Thank you.

Never hesitate to call and ask any question. I don't remember Dick being given any instructions, but he was in the pool at 8 weeks. As long as the sternum scar is healed, I don't see any problem.

Thanks both of you. Knew I could get answer here and avoid bothering surgeon's office. Also really happy I can enjoy the gorgeous pool at the resort DH is taking me to for some sun and fun :) as a 'make up' for the cruise we had to cancel when we learned I needed another surgery. (I have to remember to be really careful about covering my scar in gobs of sunblock.

Appreciate your help.

I can't believe I did this. Duh!!!

Not wanting to bother my surgeon's office, I did not call about the swimming pool business. As it turns out, I had to call about whether I should keep a dental appointment as the reminder card came in today. (I had made the appointment before I knew I was having another OHS. Answer was to wait six months before any dental work.) I FORGOT to ask about swimming :( and really don't want to call again.
