Have any of you had a PET Scan?

Does anyone know how much radiation is involved?

What are the Risks to a patient with moderate Mitral Stenosis (and possible regurgitation) plus Mechanical Aortic Valve when the 'speed up' medication is administered?

What does that experience feel like (physically and psychologically)?

Curious,

Pet Scan

From one Al to Another,

I had a Pet Scan about two months ago. Idon't know how much radiation
was used. The company that furnished the scan gave us details of the
procedure the day before. They also gave a brocure the day of the scan
describing thr procedure. The 'speed up' medicine was administered by IV and took almost an hour. I took a nap while it was being done. I didn't notice
any ill effects. You remove all metal before the scan. They just pulled down
my jeans because of the metal zipper. They did not use a radiation appron.
They put the hands above the head for the whole scan and asked that you
not move. They did check frequently to ask if I was doing ok.
The scan took about 45 minutes and was basically pretty boring. The
radiologist phoned my primary doctor with the results.
They also can put the scan on a CD if you need to bring it to another
doctor to view it in a computer.
