You've done all your homework and I know you are ready and excited to get this behind you, Swede. We look forward to hearing that the surgery was a success and that you are having an uneventful recovery. Godspeed!

Hope you wake up ticking (quietly) with the valve you want. All the very best.

Godspeed.

Best wishes, Swede, on a successful replacement and subsequent recovery. Please let us know of your experience, and what valve you receive, when you are able.
God Bless and Godspeed

GOOD LUCK!

Good luck. I'm looking forward to seeing how you're doing in the post surgery section. And, looking forward to Tom's eventual surgery. We hope it's soon.

My thoughts are with you, stay positive.

Feeeling great - under the circumstances of course

Feeeling great - under the circumstances of course

Hi everyone and thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

I posted first at my thread of the difficult choice of which valve a couple of days ago but noted this thread today.

To give you a recap:
Waking up from surgery was fantastic with my beatiful wife by my side - when my surgeon came by to see how I was doing after waking up I just had a big smile on my face. Had some problems with nauseousness due to the pain killers for a while but working with the nurses I got a nice cocktail that resolved the problem for me. I felt absolutely terrible for two days after my first surgery and was expecting the same but once they started treatment with drugs against nauseousness I realised that the problem could be resolved - it was just a question of finding the right mix.
After 6 days I got transfered to a convalescent home. I am getting stronger and stronger - under the circumstances it feels just amazing. My biggest problem is I have a hard time sleeping due to severe pain between the shoulders - it's a re-run from first time as well so much expected but talk about minor problem - I have found a good masseur that is helping me to losen it up and I try to stretch a lot. I hope to come back home next week.

Looking at my valvechoice-thread I found a late link that gave me a small scare but the way I feel I am just getting more and more confident that the final valve and surgery was better than world class. Comparing recovery time with first time it feels I have gotten an upgrade from 1.1 to 11.9 this time - I was in pretty bad shape then though. It is not a question of hindrances, it is more to use the brakes so that I don't overdo the post op training.

The strong support/thoughts/prayers from all members has been VERY helpful - going into surgery with that kind of support felt fantastic. Important aspect is that it has opened my heart a lot to my fellow pationets in surgery.

Regards,
Swede
