Very Happy Birthday, Ann. I went to the WayBackMachine.org, and found my very first post to the site when it was still in list form. You were the first one who welcomed me to the site, as you have done to countless others, making us all feel right at home. You're a fine and gracious lady, and I am proud to know you in this great cyber space. Here are the two posts.

I'm new here, so I'll give a little background about my husband who doesn't want to become computer literate. He had rheumatic fever as a teenager and is now 69 years old. He has an aortic valve replacement of long standing (25 yrs.), a mitral valve replacement of a year and a half and a pacemaker which was put in several months ago. The valve replacements are both mechanical, so he takes Coumadin and many other medications.

Recently he has developed fluid in his lungs and is now facing lung surgery for a look-see around to try to determine the source of the problem. He had his lung drained a week ago and the lab reports came back negative for cancer, and were inconclusive for other things. It apparently isn't a valve problem. Just wondering if anyone out there has had a similar complication and what the outcome was. It sounds as if the surgeon feels that the problem developed in the lung and not from the heart.

Just checked in and found you here. I can't help because I had another type of heart surgery but others will be along shortly and you will receive much information from them. This is a great site and so much help and support from everybody as you can see from postings below yours. Welcome. Just wait a few minutes and you will hear from somebody else."
