My husband had his surgery on Oct. 3rd and is doing great except for complaining about vague pains. His wrist is bothering him today. He notices things especially towards the end of the day when he's tired. I know there's been discussions about nerve pain. How long does this take to improve and what causes it?

Hi Shelly....his body has been through the ringer. The pains will come and go for a while. I know I had shoulder pain for a little over three months...and it was worse at the end of the day. They push, pull and twist us. This is not pleasant but, normal.....Tom

The aches and pains come a go. The intensity has diminished over time, but at 20 months out I still get them occasionally, mostly when the weather changes. During OHS, the body goes through a lot. It gets better with time.

Shelly, I had vague and not-so-vague pains, twinges, etc. for several months.
In my ribs, shoulder, back, and hip.
Then when the cut nerves along my incision were trying to heal, I got numbness and then itching.
That was kind of annoying.

vague is ok. If it becomes a real bother, call the doctor.

He has been to a place we all went to and not one of knows exactly what went on there but we all felt it afterward and it isn't surprising that we have sore places everywhere. Kinda like being in an auto accident. It happened, but we can't remember it all.
