Today at work we got an e-mail about a former teacher at my school. He was being treated for a blood clot and died from it. He was only 43. It shocked me because Eddie was always such an active, jovial guy and he helped me out a lot my first year teaching.

Hearing news like that really grounds me and makes me realize, once more, that life is way too short and too precious to be spent worrying about stuff.

Wow...what a shock.

I am so sorry about your co-worker. What a shock it was to you. You have my sympathy.

We had a fire chief that used to come into our office because we did some of the fire dept business since my sister was on the fire board. He one day and demanded I stop what I was doing (important stuff) on the spot and do his fire stuff. I told him I would get to it as soon as I could, but he made me angry and he, too, was angry so after that we had a cool relationship whereas before it was warm, we kidded, teased, etc and he came a lot just to visit with me. One day he came in and we began to chat again and when he was ready to leave I walked out with him and he told me he had a really bad pain in the back of his leg. I told him to go straight to the hospital because he may have something wrong that would kill him (I knew it could be a clot). He didn't go. About midnight that night, he called 911 and was dead when EMS got there! It was a shock to everyone because he, too, was young. What a comfort that the two of us had fixed our tiff and I had tried to save him from himself. He just didn't listen. So sad to lose someone that didn't have to go.

How do you know??

How do you know??

That's so sad. My prayers are with his family.
How do you know when you have a clot in your leg? Does it look like a bruise? I've had some bad bruises since starting the coumadin and I always wonder how I would know if it's a clot. There seems to be this fine line between paranoia and playing it safe, and I'm never sure which side of the line I'm on.

I have a co-worker that had a massive stroke at 42 years of age. He was not a drinker or a smoker. He ran 3-5 mile every day. He had his stroke just a few minutes after his morning run. His wife had forgoten something and retuned home to find him in the drive way. He is now disabled.

Another co-worker, age 37 had a stroke three years ago on the showroom floor. He died 2 days later.

Life is short. Tell someone that you love them today. And buy cool-aid from kids at road side stands.

Interesting post......

My husband's sister died eleven days ago. Collapsed in Barnes and Noble. Died instantly. 67 years old, picture of health. Active lifestyle, ate healthy and excercised. My husband has CHF, and sports three devices in his heart.
He is 7 weeks out of OHS. He has another sister that has had a heart attack and a stroke. She is doing fine.

The lesson is, God has a plan. The prayer reads "Thy will be done...." not, "My will be done". Live each day to the fullest, and yes, buy the lemonade from the kids.
