I'm using the INRatio machine from Raytel, and am out of lancets. I reordered a little too late to keep my testing on schedule, and thought I'd buy some lancets. CVS doesn't stock a replacement, and I don't know what to ask for at other pharmacys, because I can't find the size/gauge listed anywhere. Thanks, Brian

Brian I'm fairly certain that 21ga is standard, but I use 30ga which is even finer. CVS has them, all drugstores do. They're just standard lancets used with almost every generic lancet device.

They sure do, click here.

Accu-Chek lancet device

Accu-Chek lancet device

Good morning,

There are three adjustable settings for depth--1.3, 1.8 and 2.3 mm. on this single use device. the needle itself is 23 g and delivers a slice, not a puncture.

Sometimes I have trouble obtaining a large enough drop of blood and find this device very useful.

Accu Chek is there own thing all by itself. I don't know what you got with your kit, but mine is just a generic cockable lancing device and any generic lancets will work with it.

Accu-Chek vs. Coaguchek dialable device

Accu-Chek vs. Coaguchek dialable device

HI Ross,

My Coaguchek S came with the standard depth dialable Softclix lancet holder.

When I experienced difficulty obtaining a large enough drop of blood I found the Accu-Chek t-shaped single use lancet.

Depending on the time of year I interchange the devices--my skin is tough on my fingers especially in the winter.

Reading the box the Softclix lancets come in I noticed the term (probably in German--multi-national) fingerprikkens. Hee Hee what a word. Almost as humerous as "cockable".

Anyway, I'm very happy with either fingerprikken cockable or not.

Cheers

Ah, thats why, you got that thar Coaguchek. INRatio just gives you these neat little penlets to prick yourself with. I don't need one of those 21 gauge drill bits for 15mml of blood, 30ga does just fine.

I like the TENDERLETT.It takes a slice to 1.75 mm, doesn't hurt like a stylet and bleeds well. Available from QAS

Thanks guys! I did stop at CVS that night, and found some 30 gauge CVS brand that worked just fine. My new order from Raytel arrived Thurs. as promised. So I'm all set for a while. One thing I find curious is that I can't find small gauze pads anywhere. All the pharmacys around here have 2", but not 1". Just seems strange to me. Brian

I don't worry about those, I just use kleenex instead.

Kleenex? Does it work OK for mopping up extra blood droplets?

Seriously, I like the gauze pads (2" squares) made by Kendall, I think it is, a Tyco company. They're 100% cotton and I've only seen them in ERs & doctors offices. I mentioned this to someone I knew who lives in Houston. He's safety director for his company and has lots of medical supply catalogs. I'll see him July 7-9 at a cat show in New Orleans, and he's bringing his catalogs, will order me whatever I want and I'll just write him a check.

Since I'm a bandaid-aholic now, I can't wait to see those catalogs!

What do you use to puncture, a rifle? My little tiny 30ga poker doesn't cause any extra drops, so kleenex works fine for me. Yeah I know, not guaranteed sterile, but hey.
