Yaps

laying in bed, I had a very sharp pain in left eye..lasted almost an hr, dark lines in vision.... it has stopped now and I am seeing fine.
Should I mention this to dr? Having an ABI this Friday, I think it was a TIA, but first time Ive had pain with it.... someone please advise me,as I dont want to seem a crybaby at drs.
I havent mentioned this to anyone, wanted opinions from here first.
love the pup

I would ask. Anything out of the ordinary could be something. Course others will come along and give their thoughts. You aren't being a crybaby.

I asked my dr about my feet being cold and then they'd get warm (under covers) and turn red. He said 'old age' - circulation. He changed my bp med from atenolol to Toprol. Once the Toprol set in, no more cold feet! Even tho my dr didn't give me the right answer, I did ask it, then settled it myself.

Anything that you find troubling, should be discussed with the Doctor. It may have been nothing or it may have been a TIA, but whatever, make note of it should it be signs of something completely different.

Please call your doctor AND your ophthalmologist asap today. Anything unusual with your eyes should be looked at right away.

This is different from what happened to you, but Joe had a retinal artery occlusion which caused blindness in his left eye. He thought it was a TIA and would clear, but it wasn't, and his eye is now blind. We found out afterwards that if he had gone to the emergency room or had gone to his eye doc within the first day or so, there was something they could have done to give him back some sight in the eye. However he waited too long.

Yaps,
I have no clue, but I think you should mention it to the doctor. I've had my share of TIA's, and did experience sharp burning pain in my lower leg, but it was only for a very short period of time.
We'll be waiting to hear what he has to say.:) :)

Definately ask. Always remember doctors are your employees, you pay their salaries. You would not hesitate to ask your plumber or gardener a question, same with your physician. Ask away! Good luck. Deb

Unlike some other people on this list, I am not one to call a doctor whenever something unusual happens (just the way I am, right or wrong). However, in this case, I would call to get some kind of answer today. Reading your post, I think you already knew the answer to your question.

eyes and TIAs

eyes and TIAs

I began having occular migrains recently. Didn't know what they were so I went to the doc. He sent me to an optimologist to make sure blood clots weren't affecting my eyes. So it seems they think double checking for clots is very important.

On another note, it seems many of us have several TIAs. I've had one. About a year and a half ago.
Do you get used to them or do they "freak you out" every time? Do you go to the emergency room each time?

I know every time I feel a tingle in my arm or on my face I get real nervous.

You should go to the ER with each TIA. They should be checked out asap. Most of them resolve fast, but they can also be a precursor to a stroke.

Don't take chances with TIAs.

Oh, and don't drive yourself there. Have someone else drive you, or call 911 and get an ambulance.

waht's a TIA?

waht's a TIA?

What's TIA?

Ive spoke to nurse and will see me Friday.... I just feel soooo hypochondriatic..lol..if there is such a word.. Thankyou everyone,Love Yaps

don't feel that way, you have a legitimate concern and it really isn't worth not getting checked. i am sure your doctor rather see you for something like this and keep things under control then wait for things that make it harder for everyone. well that's what i always tell me anyway :) Lyn

I had a similar situation 2 1/2 years ago and was right near my opthamologist's office. Turned out to be a retinal tear with bleed. This is considered an opthamalogic emergency. The eye pain with the dark lines sounds like a retinal problem more than a TIA but I am not a doctor. I would not have waited until Fri to be seen. Just one person's opinion but your sight is precious. Don't fool around if you are still having any vision problems.
