Here's a "Life Hack" to speed up and automate reporting your INR to Alere.
After having received my new Coaguchek XS from Alere, I immediately noticed that they expect me to call their "Toll Free" line and recall/enter several strings of numbers. I dislike paper, and I don't want to waste my time trying to remember the string of numbers such as my pin and patient id. I realized I could program a contact into my cell phone to remember the string of numbers and even the timing of when the tones are sent.
You would obviously need to take out my info and add your own, but my string saved as the contact phone number looks like this (pin/id numbers are fictional):
Obviously I saved the name as "Alere".
This way, it's hands and brain free after I hit dial until it hits the part where I report my actual INR.
The commas are pauses in android phones, so it waits for the right time to send the tones. Your phone may need a "P" or some other character, but a quick google can find out what character is needed for pause for your phone.
