Today I realized it's been 12 years since I had open heart surgery. I guess I am one of the lucky ones, the mitral valve was repaired with a ring, and not replaced.
I see the cardiologist every year for a check up, and I asked him this year if I had not had surgery what would be like today? He said "you would not be here".. It was a very severe leak and it would have taken it;s toll on my heart.
I guess i am just reminiscing this morning.
