I Wrote an orignianal background post here: http://www.valvereplacement.org/forums/forum/heart-talk/876658-17-year-old-will-this-change-my-life

I got the result through: the aeortic root measures 4.0cm and I can wait another year before a rescan.

Does that mean:

You don't need surgery but your going to in the futyre, help lift a piece of furniture and youll die.
or
You don't need surgery, you might do in the future but you can continue lift moderate waits and do proggressive calisthenics: its unlikley your heart will explode.
or
something else

There is no identical advice anywhere: be it from doctors to the internet, litterally everybody disagrees, I feel lost because all though I know everything in life is uncertain,
I'd at least like some sort of sanity amoungst completely conflicting, vague, arbitrary advice.

Thanks for reading, be safe, be happy.

no, I'd say it means its likely not certain ... and no, it doesn't mean "help lift a piece of furniture. but it does mean don't take up squatting in power lifting with a goal of "clean and jerk" 200kg

You don't need surgery, you might do in the future but you can continue lift moderate waits and do proggressive calisthenics: its unlikley your heart will explode.

Your hear doesn't explode, nothing so dramatic. Your aortic artery gets a quiet slit in it and the blood simply fills your chest cavity and you die.

I think AZ Don said it well, that he now targets weights which he can do 3 sets of 20 reps ... so if you target endurance strength and don't hold you breath and other horrible techniques then yes .. you can keep training.

read that above paragraph again ...

A shocking thing is that (drum roll) we age as part of nature and we all die as part of nature. What the goals of weight lifting should be is to promote good health ... not vanity and admiration before the mirror.

or
something else

as above ;-)

There is no identical advice anywhere:

correct, but there is a lot of intersection. Nobody spoon feeds you and each has their own speciality. So the more specialised a medical professional is the less they normally know outside that field.

if you read the trashy Yellow Press websites .. well you get what you deserve ... confusion and frustration

look for the intersections of lines of thought and you will navigate the informational wilderness ... just like with a map and compass and taking bearings off landmarks.

Thanks pellicle you speak sense :)
I lift in a higher rep range than most (10+), breath properly and don't go near failure (better for joints and hearts I guess) - Chinups are probs the most intense exercise I do

I exercise to be healthier, not look like some greak god, granted I won't be displeased if the latter happens ;-) however my goal is to get to a healthier weight and protect my self from injury.

Im going to add in some jogging in to my routine to help keep my heart happier, as for the Yellow press yeah it's a load of trash - the only places im going to look for advice if from here or my cardio - no point in anything else.

the good thing about here is you can get concepts which you can then take to your cardio and ask "hey, what do you think about..."

at least we here are living it (who knows what experience many of the websites which are not interactive forums have).

I also strongly recommend Google Scholar, which restricts its searching to "Peer Reviewed Journals" (such as The Lancelet)

https://scholar.google.com

once you start searching there it will build up a knowledge of your topics and soon you will get even better results. I would advise begining searches with fewer key words and try to use only key words which do not cross over to other domains. Stuff like:
aortic aneurysm repair

Will give you good reading information much better than "can they fix my heart"

Best Wishes

Oh ... look again in the mirror I suspect you may be wrong ... perhaps you're already tending towards Adonis without really seeing it ;-)
