Ok Gang. Here it is. The question remains the same: Beyond what is in Al's web page, has any had any experience with the above mentioned drug combination? I was reluctant to try Viagra before my surgery and now with the added coumadin regimen I am even more reluctant.:( Any info would be appreciated. I am not on any other medication. :)

Thanks,
Greg T

Hi Greg,

My doctors said there should be no problem taking Viagra when on Coumadin as it relates to my mechnical valve and INR. I say this because this drug is a big "No" for certain types of heart disease patients, primarily those that have to take Nitro pills.

Since my doctors offered the drug to me, I figured hey... I got to see what this is all about, so... I now have a prescription for it. However I should also point out that I do this drug for recreational use only... LMAO

As far as Viagra effecting my INR. I haven't noticed any change with my INR when taking it.

If your doctor says it's ok for you to take it, I don't think that you will see any change in your INR. Perhaps Al has some more input from his site.

Thanks Rob

Thanks Rob

Recreational? I was thinking of using it professionally! ;) (just kidding!) I hadn't considered its affect on the INR, I was more concerned about side affects of the drug combo. It seems as though your Drs. are quite confident about the safety of the combo. If I am not prying to much, how long after your surgery did you first use it? I am 8 weeks post-op (feeling great by the way :D)

Thanks, Greg T
