I tried to go chat today, on my new E Machines notebook (windows XP) and I got this message when I was prompted (and attempted) to download the Java Virtual Machine that said was necessary to run the chat page.

We're sorry, you cannot view this page because it requires the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (MSJVM). Your machine does not have the MSJVM installed. For more information please visit www.microsoft.com/java.

I went to the page and didn't really find anything I could wrap my small mind around. :( :(

Why doesn't it like me???

Awe you poor poor woman, what are you going to do now? Virtual Machine is no longer available for Windows XP thanks to all the mitigation with anti trust suits. Looks like you lose! :D

Sprise, you have to go get Sun Java now!

You may already have this on your system. Check for a coffee cup applet in your control panel, if it's there, check the settings and let me know what you find.

Java Runtime Parameters - nothing is written in the box

Advanced Tab-

Browser tab-
both IE and Netscape 6 are checked

Nothing of interest in the other few tabs.

On the cache tab, click the empty cache button and then see if it works, if that doesn't do it, try clicking reset and close then reopen your browser and try again. If it still refuses to work, I'd just download and install a fresh copy from the link I left you.

You have an older version anyway, so you may want to upgrade to the newest and skip all the above!

Newest version is 1.4.2_04

Thank you Ross! You are a god!

I just installed the new one. Too late for the chat it appears. The "usuals" must not be very chatty today.

Just to test it out, go to www.lovethissite.com and see if the water applet works properly. I assume since the new install you could get into chat now?
