How does the "quote" button work?

Anyone,

I've tried to use the "quote" button several times, but it doesn't work the way I expec it to. I always end up with an entire post quoted, when all I wanted was a line or two. I know I can edit the quoted text to get rid of what I don't want, but than can get tedious. I also seem to keep losing my add-on text when I submit my follow-up post; I know I can edit my follow-up after I submit it, but that is tedious, too. Finally, can I quote more than one person's post in the same follow-up? If so, how?

I don't know how to do it either so I just cut and paste. That is easy. But I am going to wait and watch for Ross to tell us. I see those quotes and am baffled!

The quote function has a "hitch in it's gitalong". It doesn't work, unless you do as Hensylee says.

Until we get it fixed, you have to first quote the post and submit it, then go back and click edit, go in and edit what you want and add your text at that time. In other words, right now it's a 2 step process where it should only be 1. I've had other programmers look at the coding and none of us can figure out what's wrong. It looks like Hank is going to have to have the vBulletin people come in and fix it.

Well, a two-step is better than nothing, so I'll just use it the way it is. ;)

I just posted this as a test. It seems to work as I would expect - I did it in one post.
