AARGH !

It happened AGAIN. As I was preparing a moderately long response, AOL disconnected me for "Lack of Activity" and the entire text I had created disappeared into cyber space.

When this happens on my JUNO e-mail program, JUNO saves the text and asks if your want to use it upon bootup.

It would be VERY useful to incorporate some means of saving unsent compositions to VR.com as a means of protection against computer crashes of any sort. Can this be done Hank?

p.s. How / where can I learn to copy and paste to the message box?

I don't know how it might work on your computer, but when I want to copy and paste, I just right click on the text I want to save, pick select all then pick copy. and when I go into a reply box, I right click again inside the new text area and choose paste. The copy mechanism saves your text to the Windows clipboard until you copy another text selection.

This is also a good way to save (temporarily) the text you have just prepared. You would just have to remember to do the copy thing as you go along, so you won't lose the most recent text creations. Because it it saved onto the Windows clipboard, if you get kicked off AOL, it will still be on the clipboard and all you would have to do to retrieve it would be to right click in the text box where you want it to go, and it should appear.

Apple probably has a similar thing, not sure about that.

Unfortunately, this forum software will not do that. The reason it will not is that in effect, you would have an internet application controlling your computer. That is something we never want.

The reason you can do it in your Juno program is because Juno is an application running on your computer. The forum actually runs on the VR.com computer and just displays on your screen.

I would suggest using notepad or word or something like that to compose your messages in. Then, when complete, just copy it and paste it into a forum posting.

OK, now I understand, BUT, that brings up another problem I have, namely that PASTE does NOT work when I try to copy and paste into a VR.com message window. When I click on paste, NOTHING happens. Any ideas?

First click inside the empty text area, then paste. That shows the text where to go. And make sure the cursor is within the text area.

Nancy hit the nail on the head again. Al you can also right click to copy and right click to paste. Doing it the right click way will automatically set the cursor in the window when you right click to paste. Just to verify, you still have to put your arrow in the window before clicking.

If you can't get the "right click" to work to bring up the paste option just hold the "CTRL" key down and press "V" .

That should do it most times.

AH, the RIGHT click technique works. Placing the arrow in the text box and LEFT clicking followed by clicking on EDIT and Paste in the Windows header does not work. OK, I'm still an appliance operator when it comes to computers :-(

Maybe you're not picking up any text with the COPY command. Try highlighting all the text with your cursor, or with the RIGHT click SELECT ALL command then while the text is highlighted, RIGHT click on it and use the COPY command. That should do it.
