I ran a 5K this morning at RPI in Troy, NY, the Run to Remember POW/MIA. Got first in the 60+ age group with a time of 31:52, 10:15 per mile. That's a minute per mile faster than last week but still almost a minute per mile slower than my July 5K time. I spent 6 weeks of the summer not running at all because of a calf muscle pull, so I'm on the comeback trial and doing pretty well.
Nice prize too, a peach pie which I gave away because I'm already fat enough.

Congratulations on the run, Jack! Ah, to be able to even jog again someday, that is my hope.
That peach pie looks wonderful!
Best wishes,
Jim

Rather than start a whole new thread, I'll add on my latest run here. Did another 5K, 5 seconds slower than last week but I had my beta blocker holding me back this week vs none last week. Some times I'll skip the metropolol the night before a race so I can get my heart rate up higher. I didn't this week so I had to work much harder to get the same time.
Still, I got third place in my age group again. Not that there was a lot of competition, but it's always fun to walk away with an award.

I've done 13 races already this year and placed in 4 of them. I'm torn between two events next week. One is a 7.1 mile torturous hill climb. The other is a first ever alumni 5K at one of my alma maters. The college is only 50 years old and I was there 43 years ago, so I'm sure there won't be a whole lot of competition in my age group again. Do I want to cheese another trophy or beat myself to a pulp? Hmmm, that's a tough one...

Congratulations on another AG place. We all love those medals. The last one I received was first place in AG...I was the only one in the 70+ group and it was my slowest marathon EVER!!! Heck the best thing was I beat 24 runners younger than I am.
FWIW: I'm a little hard headed and given a choice, I usually go for the more difficult.
