Sorry to start a new thread. I don't see my original post.
Ray and I ran the VA Beach Rock n Roll Half Marathon on Sunday.
He is 4 months post op as of yesterday.
He did fantastic. He completed it in 3:09:41.
Everything is going well. No complaints.
Hope you are all doing fantastic too. I forgot my digital camera so I bought a disposable. When I get the pictures back (and if they turned out) I will post some from the run.
Take care.

Excellent job! A half marathon at 4 months is outstanding! PLEASE think about meeting up with fellow valve replacement runners at the Wineglass marathon October 2009 in upstate N.Y. We will be running in relay teams, so no one has to do the entire marathon if they do not wish. PM me if you'd like more details!

We will definitely consider it, we have friends in Jersey City we could visit, too. Neither of us have any desire to do anymore than a half, so the relay would be great. We are doing a mini triathlon in October.
Ray was very happy that his cardio is so great. Before his surgery he would run for a few months and take two weeks off and loose all his cardio endurance. So he was happy to see that the surgery fixed this problem. He wasn't sore either (brat!) his muscles were tender but that was it.
Thanks for all the well wishes.

Congrats to both of you! A half mary at 4 months is ambitious. Ray is only just starting to recover, he'll realize a big improvement in the coming months.

Congratulations on a great race. Your husband has guts to run a 1/2 at 4 months post op. Good for him. Tell him to not look back, line up the next race. :D

Good Morning.
Thank you all for your kind words. He is doing fantastic. =)
No, he didn't wear a heart monitor. I wear mine religiously and offered to let him use it and he said no.
Our next race is a mini triathlon. 12 October. We are both very excited about it.
I'll have the pics back tomorrow. I hope they turned out! Real film is a pain:p

I guess I can only upload one at a time. Here is Ray. Next one will be of me. the pics I took with the disposable camera didn't come out. I carried the camera in my sports bra during the run and it got soaked with sweat (eww) and ruined the film...who knew

Thanks for the offer, Debbie, but I'm not a runner :o
Ray does run quite a bit now but he never gets on the internet, at least not to blog.
Good Luck with the throwdown. That is an awesome idea to keep on track and focused.
