On the old forum, when I would enter, the titles of the messages that I had already read would be shaded, and thus I could easily tell what I hadn't read yet. How do I get this forum to indicate that for me? Thanks.

The indicator is what image shows up on the left of each message. I don't know yet which is which, but I'll get it all figured out and let you know.

If you look at the bottom left of each message you will see a check mark. If the check mark is in yellow, it's a new message you haven't read if it is greyed out then it is an old message
Also on the home page you will see the check mark by each forum. Same appliesYellow = new messages in that forum. Greyed out = No New messages.
When you click on a forum and see the list of threads, you will see An envelope to the left. If it is open and yellowed there are unread messages. If it is closed and greyed out there are No new Messages in that thread.
there is also a way to view any unread posts to messages that you have posted through your user cp but I havent figured that one out completely yet.
And last(maybe) but not least! While on the Home page, at the top right hand corner you see the welcome toUSER NAME Under that you see Go to new messages or something like that:mad: (damn pumphead) . Anyway click on it what ever it says and it will bring up all new posts that you have not read. They will not be in forum or thread form but will show all new posts.
Hope this helps
Wonders of being able to edit posts. What it says on home page is welcome back user name
and under that it says View new posts

Had to run a test to be sure but I was right.
When you see the envelopes and it is greyed out with a black dot on it it means you have read and replied. If it is closed and just grey you read but did not reply.
One more thing, you should go into your own posts so that they will appear read. If you dont you will get indications that there are new posts, only to find out they are your own post.
When you click on post and it takes you to your post this will not make it appeared read.
You have to leave and come back in to make the post appear read.

I clicked on "View New Posts" on the Home page and it seemed to work well.

When you read messages and the indicator does not change to indicate that you have read it, you can at the bottom of the home page on the right click  ( oh no here goes pump head again) Anyway it says something to the effect make all post apear read. Click on it at the end of your session and it will make everything appear read so that when you come in again only new post will appear as unread.
OK! What it says is mark all forums as read.

If you do not see a picture here, it means I haven't figured it out yet
http://communities.msn.com/Mikesplace48/mike.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=5
So far I can create a link to where pictures are stored on line. The down fall is this allows who ever clicks on the link to see all pictures stored there. No problem I have no pictures there to hide but we are supposed to be able to post just the picture we want seen. So far I haven't figured that part out.
At least it allows me to move around! That could be because to pute recognizes me as belonging.
Would appreciate it if someone would click on link and let me know if it allows you to move around in my photo site also.
The photo it take you to first is of my wife and I a couple years back
Don't worry it will not close this window. It will open a seperate window for the link.

Couldn't make it work, Mike. I registered and then was told I needed an invitation from a member to enter the community - or something like that.

I know whats up with the picture posting. I'll set it so that the picture will show up in the message. Is that what y'all desire?:D

Wasn't sure about that. I guess it recognizes me. will fix so others can view.
Yep hank that would be great. In mean time will change my community settings so others can view.
May scare them to death though seeing my mug.:D
OK should be able to click and view photo's now!:) I hope
May have to sign up with MSN communties first but it will let you know.
You can also join community but it will take me going in and approving before you can post pics there. has to be that way or anybody would be able to join and post any kind of pictures.
Its a workable solution for now until Hank has time to reconfigure IMG here.
A note on allready read posts. It appears that post that you read do not change indicator until you leave site and return. So after reading everything new if you remain on site just click on the above mentioned make post appear read.

OK!
In user cp, which is like your own private inbox. You will find a section for reading private messages, A section for reading posts to forums that you are subscribed too, and a section for post to threads that you are subscribed to.
When you are in a forum or thread and you wish to keep track of that particular subject just click on subscribe to this forum or Thread and you will recieve new posts in your user cp.
User cp is also where you can edit your profile or change your preferences. I would suggest that you say yes to popups for private messages so that you know instantly if you recieve one other wise you may miss it till you decide to enter user cp.
