View Full Version : How Do I Fix My "New Posts" Screen??!!

Hello again. On average, I've been logging on to vr.com for 30 minutes every other day or so. When I do, I generally scan the Forum "Home" screen and then click on "New Posts" to see how everyone's doing. When the New Posts screen is first displayed, I'll see new posts for the last few hours listed. However, if I go to read a thread, when I return to New Posts, I'm restricted to only a few new posts. Like now, it's only showing 9, less than roughly the last hour.

How can I expand the number of posts I can view on my "New Posts" screen?? I know it's only a click or two, but I have seriously tried and can't find it. The doctor has directed me to reduce my stress, but this is driving me batty!

Any help would be appreciated. -- Jim

Say, that does seem to be screwed up!

Some posts are off the new posts page after being only one hour old. Others stay on. That seems off to me, too, Jim.

Another thing for the consultant to run down?

Best wishes,

It's always been that way for me. Somehow I figured it was a west coast thing, but changing the clock didn't help. Oftentimes, I will just log out and go to Today's Posts. That brings on the longer list. Don't know why, though.

It has to do with your cache and time on line. The cookie times out in one hour. If your caching pages, it may be looking only for new posts since you last checked.

So how can I fix that?

Go to Tools, internet options, temporary internet files, settings. Check for new versions of stored pages, never if you don't want to cache. I think I'm right- Ross????

Almost right, Go to tools or control panel, internet options, and use check for newer versions of stored pages "Every visit to the page" Click apply and ok. close and reopen IE. I won't say use Never, I do think you need to have some pages cached but you may want to limit the cache size to 80mb instead of whatever astronomical number windows has it set at.

I find that using the "back" button to get back to the "new posts" page works fine for me. The only time I get problems is if I lose my internet connection (usually at work where I'm on dial-up) and it doesn't go back to list I'd been looking at before.

This is probably the best solution to use!

I'll stick with Gemma! My cache thingy is already set for "every visit to the page" and is set for 10 MB !! Maybe I should raise the MB!! Nah. too complicated...... I'll just lurk incognito and use Today's Posts (as in why doesn't that button do the same thing as New Posts, but it doesnt' react or lessen the list as I cruise around) or my back button.
