View Full Version : My plans for the next year...

Okay guys, you all have inspired me.
I am planning to to do four more sprint triathlons this year. My weak link has always been the run leg, so I've concentrated on that in my training for the last couple of months, running three times a week and working up to five mile runs to prepare for the 5K triathlon run legs.
I have always thought about doing a half-marathon, so I thought why not? Being a native Hoosier and a hard-core open wheel racing fan, what better half marathon to run than the Indy 500 Mini Marathon in early May - which includes a lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway!
So I entered on-line last week. My last Tri is in early November, which gives me almost six months to focus on preparing for the half in Indy. It also supports my goal of doing an Olympic distance Tri next year (which includes a 10K run).
I can hardly wait!

G'Day Mark

The plan sounds great and like you say what better way than having the incentive of doing a lap of the infamous Indy speedway circuit.

Look forward to hearing how your training develops - particularly with the run leg. I'm in much the same boat - love the cycling but finding the inspiration to run is a bit of a problem.

Best of luck.

Hi Mark & Russell -

I share your struggle w/ the run. In fact I HATE running. How much do I hate running? About 20-25 miles a week...but it's something you're required to do after you swim and ride your bike ;)

Best wishes for a great tri season, Mark. Please keep us posted on your activities (because we need inspiration from you too!) I have a buddy who ran the Indy half and thought it was a great event. I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself.

Mark.

Go for it. That is outstanding.
There's a foot race on the Texas Motor Speedway. I'll have to look for it.
